Australian captain Michael Clarke has reportedly used his first training session since arriving in Brisbane to 'weave and hook' in a bid to prepare for an onslaught from bouncers by England bowler Stuart Broad and his teammates during the winter Ashes.

Australia's best batsman spent nearly an hour facing balls thrown at him from an elevated platform by national coach Darren Lehmann and Cricket Australia's (CA) spin chief John Davison.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, England has indicated that they can take on Clarke with shorter-pitched deliveries in the first leg of the back-to-back Ashes series this year as the Australian captain had fallen victim to a fierce sequence of bouncers at Lord's in July by Broad, which struck him on the shoulder and the helmet.

As Clarke had particular trouble against Broad throughout the series and with another tall England fast bowler to join their attack at the Gabba - Boyd Rankin, Chris Tremlett or Steven Finn - he is eager to simulate the blitz of bouncers he expects to face next week.
