The Colombo Magistrate's Court granted bail on Friday to government minister Mervyn Silva's son, Malaka Silva, and six others, who were in police remand for assaulting a foreign couple at a night club.

The incident occurred at a nightclub on Duplication Road in Colombo earlier this month.

The suspects, according to the Lanka Page web site, have been ordered not to enter any nightclub for the duration of the case.

The six suspects include four friends of Malaka Silva and two Ministerial Security Division (MSD) officials attached to Minister Silva's security detail.
