The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday expressed hope that the ongoing political crisis in Jammu and Kashmir would come to an end post the meeting between People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that his party is committed to the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.

"I firmly believe that after this meeting, she will go back and speak with her party men. We have from the beginning thought about the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, we want a good government for the state which walks on the path of development. Moreover, all these nuances have been perturbing the Prime Minister as we want to stand by the expectations of the people of the state," he said.

Mehbooba, who called on Prime Minister Modi at the latter's official 7, Race Course Road (RCR) residence in the national capital earlier today, dubbed the meeting to be 'positive' and said that a final call in this regard would be taken after the legislature's meet on March 24.

"I am satisfied after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was a very positive meeting. A stalemate was going on for a long time. A final call will be taken after the legislature meet on Thursday," Mehbooba told the media.

The PDP chief, who reached New Delhi yesterday for talks with the BJP leadership, has called for a legislature party meeting on March 24.

The state is under Governor's rule since the death of chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed three months back.
