Condemning the recent attack on a Manipuri student in Bangalore, Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Thursday said that strict action must be taken against the miscreants.
"Northeast is a part of India and any kind of discrimination taking place against people hailing from there, is extremely unfortunate. There should be a stronger law and strict action must be taken against the attackers," said Alvi.
Meanwhile, Congress leader P.C Chacko said that the Karnataka Government will be taking strict action over the incident.
"If children from the northeast are suffering in India, concrete steps should be taken to deal with this issue. The Karnataka Government will take strict action against this incident," said Chacko.
Furthermore, former external affairs minister Salman Khurshid stressed on the need to protect people from the northeast.
"Northeast is an important and beautiful part of India, and it is our responsibility to give them respect and security. Their safety is extremely crucial," said Khurshid.
