The Congress party on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not fulfilling the pre 2014 Lok Sabha poll promises which he had made to the country, criticising him for the delay over the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.

"After one year of assuming power, you [Prime Minister Modi] tell the country that OROP is a complex issue and has complexities of which you never knew earlier. Is it the same for black money, minimum support price? Is it the same for employment generation, the 'Make in India' initiative?" Congress leader Ajay Maken said while addressing the media.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the nation in his eighth edition of the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme, had assured ex-servicemen that his government would soon resolve the OROP issue.

The OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen's associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
