Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who met the farmers affected by unseasonal rains in her Lok Sabha constituency Rae Bareli on Saturday, said that her party would request the Central Government for fair compensation for them.
"Farmers are very worried. We will ask the Centre to provide fair compensation," she said.
Sonia had earlier met the farmers of Khandwa village in Haryana's Bhiwani District, who were facing similar issues.
She also met the victims of the Bachhrawan train accident earlier in the day.
