Liverpool advanced to the quarterfinals of the Europa League after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford gave them a 3-1 aggregate win over bitter rivals Manchester United.

Anthony Martial ignited United's hopes of staging a comeback briefly in the 32nd minute with a clinical spot-kick before Phillipe Coutinho restored his side's two-goal advantage on the stroke of half-time, the Mirror reported.

United then displayed a listless second-half as they failed to breach Liverpool's defence to make a spirited fightback.
