Sindhu advances, Praneeth bows out of Swiss Open

Indian ace shuttler P.V Sindhu booked her place in the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament after brushing aside Pai Yu Po of Chinese Taipei in the women's singles event here on Thursday.

The sixth-seed claimed a 21-16, 21-16 triumph over Yu Po in a contest that lasted for 36 minutes.

In the men's singles event, B.Sai Praneeth suffered a major blow as he knocked out of the tournament after going down 21-19, 21-6 at the hands of second-seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, Sameer Verma also crashed out of the tournament after suffering 15-21, 19-21 defeat against Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk.
