CPI asks PM Modi to break his 'mysterious' silence

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Sunday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra would break his silence on the allegations against his party leaders in the ninth edition of his 'Mann ki Baat' programme.

"You all continue hopes that Prime Minister will speak on the entire controversy involving External Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara even the HRD Minister Smriti and several issues like this. Even there is an issue that public prosecutor has been asked to go slow by NIA, National Investigative Agency which is very much under the prime minister and home minister," Raja told ANI here.

"These are all very serious issues and so far Prime Minister has kept mum and now he has to open up and he has to speak. He has to tell the nation what he thinks," he added.

The CPI leader further said Prime Minister Modi's silence is a very mysterious one.

"This situation is getting mercurial and mercurial every day; the Prime Minister keeps silence and doesn't speak on this serious issue. That has created situation in which the Prime Minister's integrity and credibility is questioned. Why the Prime Minister keeps quiet otherwise. The Prime minister will have to speak out and explain his position," he added.

Raja also took a jibe at the BJP over party stalwart Lal Krishna Advani's remark that political credibility was essential.

"Yes, Mr. Advani has said that. I do not know how many people are there in the BJP to listen to his words," he said.

Advani reportedly said in an interview earlier that the politicians must live up to the trust placed in them by the voters.
