Cricket South Africa (CSA) has reportedly expressed its satisfaction with the judgement against the application lodged by its former CEO Gerald Majola.
A CSA statement said that Majola had unsuccessfully sought an order for declaratory relief against the decision of the minister of sport and recreation Fikile Mbalula to appoint the Nicholson Committee of Enquiry.
According to Sport24, the judgment was delivered with costs being awarded against Majola, except for the cost of postponing the initial hearing, which is to be carried by the minister who requested the postponement.
The statement further said that Majola had also dismissed the CSA disciplinary proceedings, which came from the recommendations of the Nicholson enquiry.
Expressing his pleasure over the hearing, CSA president Chris Nenzani said that they can now focus on the future and the board is sensing renewed enthusiasm for cricket across the country with new board members and new CEO Haroon Lorgat.
Nenzani further said that he is confident that the board is well on their way to restore confidence in South African cricket administration.
