Bihar Governor D.Y. Patil took additional charge of West Bengal today after President Pranab Mukherjee appointed him as acting Governor of West Bengal following M K Narayanan's resignation.
The President had accepted the resignation of M.K. Narayanan as West Bengal Governor and had asked Patil to hold additional charge of the post in the adjacent State until a regular arrangement is made.
Narayanan resigned as the Governor of West Bengal on Monday after completing more than four years of his five-year term.
The resignation came days after Narayanan was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two hours at his official residence in Kolkata in connection with the sale of 12 VVIP choppers to India by AgustaWestland, an Anglo-Italian defence manufacturer.
Narayanan was one of the governors whose resignation was being sought by the Modi Government.
