The Bombay High Court on Friday reprimanded the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its slow pace of investigation in famous rationalist Narendra Dabholkar murder case and asked the investigating agency asked to file a ballistic report by January 20.

Earlier this month, the CBI moved a criminal application before the Bombay High Court seeking a stay in the murder trial of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar before a sessions court as it is seeking more evidence and time to get the ballistic tests from Scotland Yard.

Dabholkar was shot on August 20, 2013, in Pune and the CBI has arrested Virendra Singh Tawde, an alleged western region commander of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), an offshoot of the group Sanatan Sanstha in connection with the murder.

Meanwhile, two of the wanted accused in the Dabholkar case, Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar, are still absconding.

Tawde is also an accused in activist and author Govind Pansare murder, who was shot at on February 16, 2015, in Kolhapur and died on February 20, 2015 .
