Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday held discussions with former premiers of the country prior to his visit to India from Thursday.

During the meeting, the former prime ministers urged him to utilise the visit as an opportunity to ensure the enforcement of bilateral treaties and agreements, reports the Himalayan Times.

They also expressed their hope that Dahal's visit would be successful in further consolidating such bilateral ties.

Former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Lokendra Bahadur Chand were present in the meeting.

Dahal met his predecessor K.P. Sharma Oli on Sunday, where the latter warned him not to sign any treaty with India that could jeopardise the country's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Dahal will embark his three-day India visit from September 15-18, at the invitation Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Dahal's visit to India is the first bilateral visit abroad after assuming office for the second time on August 4.

During his visit here, Dahal would hold talks with Prime Minister Modi on September 16 and would call on President Pranab Mukherjee and other Indian ministers, the statement added.

His visit to India will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, as well as seek ways to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
