A letter by Charles Darwin on the sex life of barnacles and a still-working vintage Apple computer from 1976 has been put up for auction.
In the letter, Darwin said that he wanted to learn more about the sex act of barnacles, such things as "were the specimens under water at times" and "if the recipient was in full vigor," the Washington Post reported.
David Kohn, director and general editor of the Darwin Manuscripts Project at the American Museum of Natural History, said that Darwin's 1857 letter to a colleague about barnacles that is "classic Darwin" and "definitely amusing," is Darwin's passion for the meaning of sex.
Kohn added that the letter's historical significance is that Darwin's still pursuing this evolutionary theme of reproduction, where he is observing, fishing and finding the exact significance of it.
The Steve Wozniak-designed Apple 1 computer is estimated to bring 300,000 dollars to 500,000 dollars because one was sold for 671,000 dollars at 2013 auction.
The auction will take place on October 22, 2014 at Bonhams in New York.
