Former cricket umpire Daryl Harper has called for players to be eliminated from the Decision Review System, to be replaced by a full time, third television arbitrator.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Harper thought that the change was necessary to fix a discredited process that was ruining the game, after there were some questionable decisions taken during the Ashes first Test at Trent Bridge.

The former umpire said that if the current system was the best, then something was definitely wrong, adding that a full time television umpire and analyst would act swiftly and without fear or favour.

Harper also said that Indians had a point in their stubborn stance against the DRS because they believed it was not 100 percent correct.

In the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge, Stuart Broad was given not out after Aleem Dar did not detect a thick edge from Broad off debutant spinner Ashton Agar to first slip Michael Clarke.
