Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said the precise date for implementing 'One Rank One Pension' (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen has not yet been decided.
"At this time, I can't tell you the date precisely mainly because there are two-three steps - administrative steps - which have to be taken. But, be assured, that we will keep our promise," Parrikar said on Friday while addressing a seminar.
OROP has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen's associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
