Datwyler, the Swiss-based industrial supplier, has, in a move to cater to regional and global markets, announced the expansion of its plant in Pune which will be completed by end of 2017 and the first samples will be supplied in July 2018.
The expansion of facility incorporates First Line - the manufacturing concept for high-quality elastomer components and is set to make India the first market in the Asia Pacific region to incorporate this standard.
"The Indian market is of strategic value to Datwyler and our market share is quite substantial. We are currently supplying to the top ten pharmaceutical companies and global players in the region. For this reason, we are expanding our presence in India," Rahul Dev, Vice President India, Datwyler, said.
The company offers state-of-the-art solutions for drug packaging and medical devices and the facility at Pune is expected to create about 500 jobs by the end of 2018, majority to be staffed with members of the local community.
In recent years, the Indian pharma and healthcare market has become increasingly important for global manufacturers, suppliers and customers.
