Expressing anger over the rape of a 7-year-old girl, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal on Monday expressed her concern after meeting the victim, and called on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to look into the matter and take serious action.

"I have written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to look into the matter and take serious action on it. This is one of the worst cases seen in recent times and after meeting the victim I am sad and depressed. The girl is on ventilator and battling for life. After looking at her, I feel the accused literally tried to eat her alive," Maliwal told ANI.

Earlier in the week, shocking incident came to light when a man raped a distant relative, during a wedding in the family.

The victim, is a Class II student, had come from Punjab with her family and was staying in the Loni area of Ghaziabad.

She went missing around 6 pm on Thursday night and was located in a pit 300 m from the wedding venue after an 11-hour search.

The victim's father in a statement said, the child was naked, semi-conscious, and bleeding profusely from her private parts. She also had deep cuts and wounds on her face. She was immediately taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital.

On investigation, the suspect's father and brother confirmed that the accused had fled to Maharashtra.

The accused is a labourer, who hails from Baghpat in UP.
