The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Wednesday said that it would file a defamation case against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in connection with irregularities and corruption charges filed against the cricket body.

"We will file a defamation case against anyone making wild and baseless allegations on the DDCA without any proof," DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda told a press conference here.

Assuring that a serious probe will be made into the charges against them and action will be taken against those found guilty, he said that the CBI was already looking into the alleged DDCA corruption graft and, therefore, a fresh probe was unnecessary.

Earlier today, the AAP had alleged that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha tried to interfere in the Delhi Police's investigation into a case related to corruption in the DDCA.

Former solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam had earlier written to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, seeking man power to investigate the alleged irregularities in the DDCA during Jaitley's tenure as president of the body.

Subramaniam has asked for five men each from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Delhi Police to constitute a Special Investigative Team (SIT) that would investigate the matter further.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier hit out at Kejriwal and demanded his apology after a three-member report on the alleged DDCA scam did not mention Jaitley's name.
