South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the third one-day international between the two sides to claim their first ODI series (2-1) in Sri Lanka here on Saturday.
South Africa owed their series win to tons by Quinton de Kock (128 with 12 boundaries and three sixes) and skipper AB de Villiers (108 with 11 boundaries and four sixes).
In blustery conditions, Sri Lanka's bowlers struggled to maintain their lines and lenghth and allowed the South Africans to score their highest one-day total in Sri Lanka - 339 for the loss of five wickets off their 50 overs. The other contributors were Hashim Amla (48) and J.P. Duminy (29).
For the Lankans, Rangana Herath and Ajantha Mendis claimed two wickets each, while Lasith Malinga claimed the fifth wicket.
In reply, the Lankans scored 257 of 44.3 overs. The key contributors were skipper Angelo Mathews (58), Kumar Sangakkarra (36), Tillekeratne Dilshan and SMA Priyanjan with 30 runs apiece.
For the Proteas, Ryan McLaren claimed three wickets, while Morne Morkel and J.P. Duminy claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, the South Africans won the toss and elected to bat first.
