Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the crash of a MiG 21, calling it a matter of grave concern.
"My heart goes out to the pilot who lost his life," Jaitley said.
According to reports, the MiG-21 crashed about 10 kilometers short of Awantipur airbase in Srinagar today. The pilot had been airborne from Srinagar and was on a routine training sortie, an IAF statement said.
The statement further said that a court of inquiry had been ordered to investigate into the cause of the accident.
