The Congress Party on Wednesday said that it sensed a political vendetta in the National Herald case, adding that the 'fight was on'.
"Parliament is a forum on which we are allowed to express collective sense of disquiet which has been there and it is quite apparent. We have never disputed that we won't take the legal recourse and we are entitled to it, and we will do it on December 19 when Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will appear in the court. And we take it from there, the fight is on," Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary told ANI.
"It is unfortunate that this (disruption) is perceived like this, but everyone knows that these subjects are not divorced from each other and it is rather convenient timing that this has come up, when the case is pending for so long," she added.
Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad also came down heavily on the ruling BJP for putting pressure on the judiciary to act against the opposition leaders.
"Without a doubt this step has been taken under political pressure and that is why we are telling that it is a political vendetta. But this can't suppress the voice of millions of the Congress workers across the country including Sonia Gandhi," Ahmad told ANI.
"Subramanian Swamy is the leader of the party and all these things are taking place on the directions of the government. The case which doesn't have a transaction of single penny, how come a cheating case crops up?" he added.
Both Houses of Parliament today witnessed disruptions over the issue with the opposition accusing the government of adopting a dictatorial attitude.
