A court in Delhi banned the broadcast of the interview of December 16 gang rape convict Mukesh Singh until further orders on Wednesday.
Reports said the court has directed Delhi Police to take action against those who attempt to publish or broadcast the contents of the documentary before it decides on the matter.
Earlier, the Rajya Sabha witnessed a huge uproar over the BBC interview, prompting Home Minister Rajnath Singh to commit to a proper investigation of the same.
Rajnath, who said he was surprised about the circumstances in which the orders to shoot the documentary were given, has also summoned Tihar DG Alok Kumar in connection with the case.
"Have spoken to I-B ministry, wrote letter to MEA. Responsibility will be fixed and investigation ordered," Rajnath said.
A Delhi court had earlier restrained the media from broadcasting or publishing the interview of Mukesh Singh, one of the convicts of the Nirbhaya gang-rape case, after the Delhi Police moved court for a restraining order against his interview.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has also issued an advisory to all television channels to not broadcast the documentary on Nirbhaya.
The government has also sought an explanation from Tihar jail authorities over how the convict was interviewed in the custody.
