The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Government of India on the application filed by the Delhi Government against the appointment of M.K. Meena as the city's Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief.
"As far as the two applications filed by the Delhi Government are concerned, the first application of impediment of M.K. Meena has been withdrawn by the Delhi Government because the court observed that this application is not required. As far as the second application is concerned which seeks to restrain M.K. Meena from interfering in the work of ACB and entering the office of the ACB is concerned, the court has simply issued notice in the matter and not passed any restraining order," said Akshay Makhija, lawyer, Central Government
"The court has said that M.K. Meena will continue to work in accordance with law, as he has been doing in the past," he added.
On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government filed an interim application in the Delhi High Court against the appointment of Joint Commissioner of Police M.K. Meena as Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) chief.
The application follows the petition filed by the Delhi Government against the Ministry of Home Affairs notification.
This came after Delhi Police (retired) inspector Jawahar Lal had filed a complaint with Kejriwal, accusing Meena of embezelling Rs 20 lakh in a curtain purchase scam during his tenure as the principal of the Police Training College in the national capital.
