A police constable allegedly shot himself here this morning after he was denied permission for leave.
The constable named R. Gobinath was found dead inside the premises of Armed Reserve Battalion here.
The 25-year old native of Vadipatti village of Madurai was found dead with a bullet injury.
Police sources said Gobinath was feeling unwell and had been requesting for leave.
