India and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has hailed Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for his recent run of success in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has compared him with former Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
Maxwell, who scored 90 off 38 balls against CSK to take his season tally to 435 runs from just seven matches at an average of 62.14 and an astronomical strike-rate of 203.27, is on course to cruise past the IPL's single season run-scoring record of 733, jointly held by Chris Gayle (2012) and Mike Hussey (2013).
According to News.com.au, the hard-hitting batter opened his account for Kings XI Punjab this season with innings of 95, 89 and 95 and followed up with a Man-of-the-Match winning performance against Chennai and Dhoni compared him with Tendulkar and his Kings XI teammate Virender Sehwag.
Dhoni further said that Maxwell batted exceptionally well and he was supported by the other batsmen as well in the match, while Sehwag said that Maxwell was more destructive than he was in his prime.
Maxwell has hit 27 sixes so far in IPL 2014 and is the only batsman to score over 400 runs in a IPL tournament with a strike rate of over 200 and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, the report added.
