Demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday said that it was not enough for the party to say that Kailash Vijayavargiya's controversial remark on Shah Rukh Khan was personal.
"It is not enough to say that it was a personal remark of Kailash Vijayavargiya. He is He is accusing Shah Rukh of being a traitor. What has Shah Rukh done that he is being named a traitor? Modi ji should apologise for this. Amit Shah should also apologise. Vijayavargiya should be removed from his post," Singh told reporters here.
Kailash Vijayvargiya had on Tuesday attacked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan over his "extreme intolerance" comment, saying his 'soul' is in Pakistan though he lives in India and also painted him as an 'anti-nationalist'.
However, the Senior BJP leader retracted his tweets on Shah Rukh Khan, saying he was 'misconstrued by some.
"My tweet was misconstrued by some. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I retract my yesterday's tweets," Vijayvargiya had said in a tweet on Wednesday.
