Dilip Ghosh's demeaning remark a 'reflection of RSS, BJP mindset': Congress

The Congress Party on Sunday alleged the controversial remark made by West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh for the female students of Jadavpur University is a reflection of the mindset of the RSS and saffron party.

West Bengal state Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said he strongly condemns these kinds of filthy words, adding it is a disgrace to the image of female folk in the country.

"If the BJP and the RSS have any kind of morality then they should seek apology from the women folk of our country," Chowdhury told ANI.

"On one hand, they are espousing that whoever is reluctant to utter 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', he will be recognized as traitor of this country. But on the other hand, their leaders, they are uttering the words which severely tainted the dignity of the female folk," he added.

Expressing similar sentiments, CPI (M) leader Hannan Mollah said that such comments show the feudal mindset as the BJP cannot tolerate vocal behavior of women.

"This is condemnable and it is the pattern of mentality of the BJP leadership. The BJP always considers that women should be under men's clutches. This is their attitude. They don't like equal rights and whenever they get a chance they try to undermine women. This is a feudal mindset of anti-women. They cannot tolerate vocal behavior of women," Mollah told ANI here.

The BJP's West Bengal chief yesterday said the women at Jadavpur University, who were allegedly molested by ABVP activists, were 'shameless' for participating in protests and deserved no sympathy.

He said the women intentionally threw themselves at the accused men.

"Those who fear so much for their modesty, why did they go there?" he said, adding the women were of 'low standards'.

Clashes had broken out between Left-leaning students and ABVP activists after campus screening of Vivek Agnihotri's film 'Buddha in A Traffic Jam' on May 6.

A group of 10 women protestors then filed an FIR accusing four ABVP activists of molestation who were detained by university students.
