Disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai has been sentenced to life in jail after being found guilty of bribery, graft, and abuse of power.
In a verdict read out in the Jinan's Intermediate People's Court on Sunday, Xilai was sentenced to life imprisonment for bribery, 15 years for graft and seven years for abuse of power.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Xilai's more than 20 million yuan of assets will be confiscated.
The court rejected all of Xilai's key defences, including that he had made an earlier confession of accepting bribes while under duress, the report said.
Xilai is expected to contest the verdict, and has 10 days to lodge an appeal.
