The doomsday clock has moved forward two minutes closer to midnight.
According to News.com.au, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, a group founded by the creators of the atomic bomb in 1945, say the world is now three minutes from a catastrophic midnight and the closest it has been in 30 years.
The report quoted Bulletin executive director Kennette Benedict as saying: "This is about Doomsday; this is about the end of civilisation as we know it."
He said that the probability of global catastrophe was very high and stressed on the need to take urgent action in order to reduce the risks of disaster.
The iconic doomsday clock was created by Atomic Scientists in 1947 and it first featured on the Bulletin's magazine cover.
