A Dutch footballer had reportedly fainted on the pitch after he was shown the red card by a referee during a local game.
According to Metro.co.uk, defender Timo Letschert tried to gain sympathy by collapsing on the ground during his side FC Groningen's match against rival side Heerenveen after being shown the red card for a reckless tackle.
The report mentioned that Letschert may have copied the idea from Premier League club Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor, who seemed to writhe in pain on the ground holding his side after he was shown a red card for blocking the goal-bound shot of Aston Villa's Darius Vassell with his arm in a 2008 game.
The report mentioned that Letschert's dismissal was his second in as many games.
