Election Commissioner H.S.Brahma has accepted that the Election Commission (EC) has committed a huge operational mistake by not including a large number of names in the voters list in Mumbai and Pune, election for which were held on April 17.
Brahma told reporters in New Delhi that he could not understand how so many names could go missing in such a compact area.
A large number of voters, including noted personalities, had to return disappointed from polling booths in both cities, as their names did not figure in the voters list.
While the BJP has asked the EC to revise electoral rolls, the Maharashtra unit of the Congress Party has called for an all-party meet on the issue.
