The United Arab Emirates top-order batsman Shaiman Anwar has admitted that he is overwhelmed with the response to his maiden World Cup ton, describing the feat against Ireland as 'special' ahead of next tie against India on Saturday.
Anwar smacked a power-packed 106 off 83 balls against Ireland in Brisbane on Wednesday, but his valiant century went in vain as the UAE failed to defend their score.
Anwar said that it had been more than 24 hours since he got his century but till now he had hardly been able to put his mobile down, adding that he didn't have any idea that his century would be so special, Gulf News reported.
The right-handed batsman further said that he never thought scoring a century in a World Cup would elicit such a response, insisting that he would try to do his best to carry this forward.
