UAE based Emirates airline, has been voted as the 'world's best airline' pushing last year's winner Qatar to the second position and also winning the 'best in-flight entertainment' category.

According to Skytrax World airline awards, which is the world's largest survey of air passengers, Qantas' partner airline 'Emirates' has been declared as the world's best.

Skytrax has booted Qantas, which joined hands in partnership with Emirates this year, to the tenth place.

Qantas group CEO Alan Joyce said that it has been a big year for the airline as it has introduced fleet improvements, new products including mattresses for international business class, updated menus and wine lists and use of iPads to stream inflight entertainment.

Jetstar was named the second best low-cost airline in the world after Air Asia.

Joyce further said that Qantas and Jetstar being voted one of the best reflects the company's investment in creating greater travel experiences adding that the airlines have one of the youngest fleets of any legacy airline in the world, and have invested in more training, new lounges and better on-board products.

The top ten airlines in the world awarded by Skytrax are:

1. Emirates

2. Qatar Airways

3. Singapore Airlines

4. ANA All Nippon Airways

5. Asiana Airlines
