An England fan has reportedly made a blunder in the World Cup song he wrote as he was so convinced that boss Roy Hodgson would pick Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend and Chelsea fullback Ashley Cole that he included them in his lyrics.

Paul Ballington reportedly wrote and recorded the song named England In Brazil and offered it for sale on iTunes and Amazon and even put it on Spotify for football fans to download.

The lyrics included Townsend and Cole, both of whom would not be accompanying the England squad to Brazil, saying that 'Townsend ghosting down the wing, defences left undone' and how Cole would be a key part of Hodgson's back four, the Daily Star reported.

Ballington even filmed a video for YouTube featuring a dads versus lads match that ended with a series of missed penalties.

However, just as the video and music were completed Townsend was injured while playing against Stoke City with doctors ruling him out of the World Cup, followed by Hodgson ruling out Cole's performance for Chelsea which did not merit his inclusion.

Ballington, whose video has already been watched almost 4,000 times on YouTube, said that the song did not take that long for him to put together as after he had got down a few lines the rest just followed.

But the only downside, Ballington added, is that he has the lyrics relating to Cole and Townsend and they are not in the squad.
