England gain a 24-run lead over India in Lord's Test

England managed to gain a 24-run first innings lead against India on the third day of the second Test being played at the Lord's cricket ground on Saturday.

Resuming from their overnight score of 219 for the loss of six wickets, England lost their last four wickets for the addition of 100 runs. England was bowled about half-an-hour before lunch.

For England, Liam Plunkett scored an unbeaten 55 of 79 deliveries with eight boundaries, while wicketkeeper batsman Matt Prior scored 23 of 42 deliveries with four boundaries. The last wicket pair of Plunkett and James Anderson had a stubborn partnership of 39 runs, before Anderson was caught by Ajinkya Rahane of the bowling of Ravinder Jadeja for his individual score of 19.

For India, right-arm fast bowler Bhuvanesh Kumar claimed Test best figures of six wickets for 82 runs of 31 overs, which included ten maidens. Ravinder Jadejad claimed 2 for 46, while Mohammad Shami and Murali Vijay claimed a wicket each. Lead pacer Ishant Sharma went wicket less while giving away 61 runs of his 24 overs.
