English cricketers have admitted that a large part of their success has been built on coaching and mentorship from former Australian players.
England's bowling coach David Saker was a former Victorian and Tasmanian fast bowler, while former Australian Test pacer Jason Gillespie is in charge at county side Yorkshire.
According to News.com.au, even current Australian coach Darren Lehmann coached at Yorkshire and has had current England Ashes squad members Joe Root and Monty Panesar refining their craft at his Adelaide cricket academy.
Rating Saker as the best bowling coach he has played under, England pace spearhead James Anderson said that Saker is probably more tactically minded than technical from a coach's point of view, adding that at the stage of his career, he needs more help with the tactical side of the game than the technical side.
Meanwhile, Root said that it was a good experience for him to get Lehmann's tips on batting as the Australian coach had a very good career as a player and a good start to his coaching career, with the report adding that Root has also benefited a lot from Gillespie's tutelage at Yorkshire, along with teammates Jonathan Bairstow and Gary Balance.
However, Root said that Gillespie has not revealed all of Australia's secrets to a good game, although he added that the former bowler has helped him to develop his game over the past two years and has done everything possible to progress his cricket as befits a coach.
