Steven Finn and Kevin Pietersen may make way for Chris Tremlett and James Taylor in the Old Trafford Test as Finn has been dropped from the squad while Pietersen's availability is questionable because of a calf strain.
According to the Mirror, England have also made changes to their bowling options by bringing in a second spinner in Monty Panesar as well as recalling paceman Chris Tremlett in place of Steven Finn and Graham Onions.
Pietersen will be checked later on the week to see whether he's fit enough, leading to the selectors calling up Nottinghamshire's James Taylor as cover, the report said.
Taylor emerged as his most likely possible replacement this week when the ECB requested that he played as a guest for Sussex in their tour match against the Australians at Hove, the report added.
