Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday said that every visible and invisible enemy will be chased and crushed to establish durable peace in the country.

Addressing the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Convention Center in Islamabad on the occasion of 70th Independence Day, Hussain said the menace of terrorism will be eliminated from the country by carrying out decisive actions with a renewed determination, reports Radio Pakistan.

Talking about the military operation 'Zarb-e-Azb' under the National Action Plan, he said the operation has produced encouraging results, adding it will continue until its logical conclusion.

He also said the recent terrorist incident in Quetta has aggrieved the entire nation and the countrymen have sympathies with the bereaved families.

As the nation celebrates its Independence Day today, the public and private buildings, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, posters and banners.

The day will finally dawn with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

Reports suggest that mobile phone services would remain suspended in several parts of Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and other high-security areas in major cities.
