Ewan McGregor to make direction debut with Philip Roth's 'American Pastoral'

Ewan McGregor has signed up to direct an adaptation of Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel 'American Pastoral'.

The 'Moulin Rouge!' actor will not direct the adaptation of the fiction novel but also star as Seymour 'Swede' Levov in the film, alongside Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning, BBC reported.

The 43-year-old Scottish actor, who will be directing a movie first time said that he wanted to try direction from years, but was waiting for the right story and now feels privaliged of doing so

Tom Rosenberg, chief executive of Lakeshore said that McGregor's talent goes far beyond his on-screen work, and they are excited to be working with a director who is as passionate as they are about telling the story of American Pastoral.

The project will most probably start late this year in US.
