Ex-NBA player Greg Anthony suspended by CBS, Turner Sports post arrest for soliciting prostitute

Former American National Basketball Association (NBA) player Greg Anthony has reportedly been suspended indefinitely by CBS and Turner Sports after he was arrested and charged with soliciting a prostitute in Washington on Friday.

A CBS spokeswoman said that Anthony, who began his job with the network in 2008, would not be working again for the American broadcast television network this season.

Turner Sports followed suit and suspended Anthony later on Saturday afternoon, Washington Post reported.

Washington's ABC affiliated channel WJLA broke the story late on Friday, reporting that Anthony had been arrested at 5:46 p.m. as part of a sting operation.

The details were reportedly on Saturday morning with police Lt. Kelvin Cusick, who that said Anthony is facing a misdemeanor solicitation charge that could warrant up to 180 days in jail.

The officer also indicated that others were arrested as part of the sting operation, as well, but refused to give a number.

Anthony, who was in town to call Saturday afternoon's NCAA men's basketball game between Maryland and Michigan State in College Park, was charged and later released on Friday.

Apologizing for his actions on Saturday, Anthony admitted that he made a mistake, and said that with this lapse of judgement he embarrassed many, including himself. He added that he would work to regain the trust that he has lost and added that the first step was saying that he was sorry.
