Ousted President Mohammed Morsi's family has accused the Egyptian army of 'abducting' him and has announced that they will take legal steps against the army.

According to the BBC, Morsi's daughter Shaimaa said that the family is taking local and international legal measures against Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, the leader of the bloody military coup, and his putschist group for having abducted Morsi and violated his human rights.

The report said that since Morsi's ousting, there have been many clashes in the region between Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood supporters and the military, as a result of which many people have lost their lives and dozens have been wounded in the street protests.

Shaimaa said that the family is appealing to the International Criminal Court to launch an investigation into the events leading up to Morsi's removal from power.

Meanwhile, one of Morsi's sons, Osama said that this act is a violation of human rights and a 'scandal' in every sense of the word and called the military's manner of holding Morsi as 'abduction'.

Morsi has been kept by the Egyptian army at an undisclosed location since his removal on July 3, and the family has had no chance to contact him since his ousting.

The US along with other nations have called on the Egyptian army to free the president while the country's interim authorities have insisted that he is in a 'safe place', the report added.
