Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday welcomed the government's move to detain separatist leader Shabbir Shah at the Delhi airport, saying the ruling dispensation must have taken this decision in the best interest of the nation
"The Government of India has taken a decision that they are not going to allow the Hurriyat to meet them. This is a process that has been started and it has culminated in arrest of him and as the others will travel they will also be arrested," he told the media here.
Shah, who arrived in Delhi today for a meeting with Pakistani National Security Advisor Sartaz Ajiz ahead of NSA-level talks, was detained at the airport by the police.
Shah has remained adamant about meeting Aziz, saying the separatists will not back out of the talks between India and Pakistan.
