Farroq Abdullah refuses to comment on separatist detention

"The Government of India has taken a decision that they are not going to allow the Hurriyat to meet them. This is a process that has been started and it has culminated in arresting him, and as the others will travel they will also be arrested," said Abdullah.

"Who am I to question the decision of Government of India. They must have though in the interest of the country and taken the decision (of detaining the separatist leader)," he added.

He also said that the Hurriyat leaders were never relevant elements to discuss issues of Kashmir with Pakistan amid fears that Pakistan that can cancel the NSA- level talks tomorrow.

Earlier on Friday Abdullah criticised Pakistan for inviting the separatists for a meeting with its NSA Sartaj Aziz, saying Islamabad wants to show that the Hurriyat represents Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.

"When Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to have talks with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif over the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, there were as such no talks about the involvement of a third party," he added.
