Roger Federer has reclaimed number two spot in the rankings ahead of the US Open, which starts from Monday.

Federer regained his spot after claiming a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 win over top seed Novak Djokovic to secure his seventh Cincinnati Masters title on Sunday.

The 17-time major champion said that it hardly matters him to be ranked number two or three, the Guardian reported.

The Swiss maestro also said that he has got his work cut out for the upcoming matches, adding that everyone would try their best in New York as it would be the last chance of the year to perform well at a Grand Slam.

The rest of the men's top 10 remain unchanged. Djokovic continued to be at number one, Kei Nishikori of Japan at number 4 and two-time U.S. Open winner Rafael Nadal of Spain at number eight.
