Italy coach Cesare Prandelli and football federation president Giancarlo Abete announced their resignations on Tuesday after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the last 16 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
According to Sport24, Prandelli, 56, took full responsibility for Italy's dismal World Cup campaign, and was unequivocal about his decision to quit as manager.
Italy crashed out of the tournament after a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay on Tuesday, which left them in third place in Group D.
Abete said his decision to quite was made prior to the tournament.
He said that the football administration in Italy needed to reflect and think of the best way forward.
