Commander of the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and the US Forces in Afghanistan, General John W. Nicholson, on Monday met Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa here.

According to a statement from Pakistan Army's media wing, ISPR, "The two discussed regional security situation and border management issues."

It said that General Bajwa also raised concern over the "blame game perpetrated by some quarters in Afghanistan and USA to undermine Pak contribution to war on terror."

"He said that its not a coincidence that this theme is being played at a time when policy review is being undertaken in USA. He said that despite provocations, Pakistan will continue to act positively as we consider defeat of terrorism as a National interest," the statement added.

On his part, General Nicholson reiterated his appreciation of the professionalism of Pakistan Army. Both agreed on the need for continuous engagement and coordination for peace and stability in the region.

The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador David Hale.

This comes as last week, the U.S. State Department said in a report, "Pakistan did not take substantial action against the Afghan Taliban or Haqqani, or substantially limit their ability to threaten US interests in Afghanistan."

The State Department also listed Pakistan as one of the safe havens of terrorism.
