Eleven visiting German students and 12 of their Amity counterparts met and interacted with Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at the Delhi Secretariat today.

The German students were from Hamburg and are presently being hosted by students of Amity, Mayur Vihar.

Principal, Dr. Priyanka Mehta, felicitated Mr. Sisodia with a sculpture of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, which was prepared by the school Sculpture Club.

During the meeting, Sisodia emphasized on the need to break the monotony of the education system, and promote the importance of activity-based, interesting and holistic curriculum.

The need of the hour, he stressed is to focus on inculcating humanistic values and ethics in the younger generation. The students were apprised of the difference between literacy and education, and he envisioned achieving 100 percent education, and not just 100 percent literacy. Walking down the memory lane, he genially acknowledged that he himself never liked the system based on rote-learning skills in his time.

When the German and Indian students enquired about his daily routine, he admitted that it was quite strenuous, but the sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, motivates him to keep going on. He further added that if one loves his job, then it could never be boring.

His message to the young Amitians and Germans was to develop interest in whatever they pursue in life. This approach would help them scale great heights of success and satisfaction.

The interaction was very fruitful and students greatly benefitted from the interaction.
