Incoming England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief Colin Graves has reportedly had talks with sacked batsman Kevin Pietersen about a return to international duty, despite national selector James Whitaker claiming that the former big-hitter was not part of England's plans.

Pietersen, who was sacked in February 2014 following England's 5-0 Ashes whitewash by Australia, wants a meeting with Graves once his World Cup media duties are over.

Graves, who takes over as ECB chairman Giles Clarke on 15 May, has not yet agreed to the meeting, saying that he would try to accommodate Pietersen, but insisted that he has made no promises, the BBC reported.

Moreover, with England in disarray following a poor World Cup, the Pietersen saga rumbling on and the ECB under fire from former skipper Alastair Cook, former skipper Michael Vaughan has branded the current situation a soap opera.

And in context of the Pietersen debate, Vaughan has called on the team to beat West Indies 3-0 to stop talk of a comeback for the South African-born batsman. He said that if England doesn't want Pietersen in the side, then they should to the West Indies and win 3-0.

Vaughan called on England to play better, score more runs and win more games and insisted that Pietersen would never play again.
