Day after an image showing its Android mascot urinating on an Apple logo appeared on Google Maps through Map Maker, Google has said that it is working to improve the spam-detection systems on its platform.

The visual that has now been removed was submitted as the image of a park located in Pakistan near the city of Rawalpindi, and was added to Google Maps by a Map Maker user named "nitricboy," reported TechCrunch.

Map Maker is an online tool that allows users across the globe to upload new data to Google's online mapping service so that new details are added to maps that Google didn't have already such as, new roads or points of interest.

A Google spokesperson said that handling spam was a complex issue but the firm was continuously working to improve their systems, including new ways of preventing, detecting and taking down incorrect edits.
